The mul­ti-fund­ed bike trail was made pos­si­ble large­ly from fund­ing from the Depart­ment of Nat­ur­al Resources’ Next Lev­el Trails pro­gram. The City of Mar­i­on broke ground in March of 2025 to cre­ate the off­shoot from the Car­di­nal Green­way at 10^th and Val­ley Ave. through down­town to Boots St. and Spencer Ave. con­nect­ing to the Mis­sissinewa River­walk, com­plet­ing phas­es 1 & 2. 

May­or Mor­rell has more plans in the works to fur­ther con­nect the city of Mar­i­on — for a more walk­a­ble, bike­able, and place-make­able des­ti­na­tion town.
