Ronald Morrell Jr. | MayorMarion, Indiana was named after the Revolutionary War General, Francis Marion. Martin Boots and David Branson each donated 30 acres of land to develop a city by the flowing Mississinewa River after nearly 20 years of settlement following the historic Battle of the Mississinewa of 1812. The Indiana General Assembly signed Marion into incorporation on May 20th, 1832.
