Citywide Cleanups
One of Mayor Ronald Morrell’s biggest initiatives was to conduct Citywide Cleanups for all citizens participating on the same day cleaning up the City, with a Central Location for drop-offs of unwanted items. In 2024, there were four Citywide Cleanups yielding over 900 truckload drop-offs, filling up 60 forty-yard dumpsters in all. These cleanups served all six districts within the city, and made a visible impact throughout the community.
Welcome Bags
New and returning Marion residents are presented with a letter from the Mayor upon utility hook-up inviting them to pick up a Welcome Bag at City Hall at their convenience. This introduces (or re-introduces) them to the Marion community through the City of Marion Mayor’s Office visit and warm welcome from city employees, as well as the goodies and resources filled in the bag from local departments and partners.
City Website
The website’s design was implemented through a partnership with Marion Design Co. (birthed out of Indiana Wesleyan University’s Division of Art & Design) where students, professors, and volunteers worked with the City of Marion to design and develop a clean and robust website to provide an attractive, reliable, and resourceful online hub of information.

City Flag
The Marion flag displays the City of Marion “M” mark which was revealed as the graphic of the City of Marion’s brand/identity developed by students and volunteers of Marion Design Co. from collaboration with citizens.
“The Marion ‘M’ comes from the repeating patterns within our many blocks and streets of businesses, homes, and great organizations. The center of the ‘M’ is proportional to the center square where the Grant County Court House sits.” – Marion Design Co.
The blocks represent the many stories…from painful to triumphant…from all walks of life, coming together. The “M” is tilted on a 45-degree angle from the Marion grid as it sits today, allowing the “M” to move forward into the future.
The colors include a spectrum of soothing and calming blues representing trust and responsibility; teal representing clarity, growth, and spirit; comfortably resting on a white background which symbolizes purity, peace, and refreshing new ideas.
Marion’s own Collins Flags is the headquarters for the City of Marion flag. Call their local office at 800.950.4061 to order your very own Marion flag for your home or place of business. (flag etiquette)
