Appli­ca­tion Dead­line: June 20^th, 2018 at 4pm

The Mar­i­on Police Depart­ment will be host­ing the 11^th annu­al Youth Acad­e­my from June 26^th through June 29^th at the Mar­i­on Police Depart­ment. The Youth Acad­e­my is intend­ed for youths between the ages of 12 through 15. It is a four-day acad­e­my designed to give youth the oppor­tu­ni­ty to see the inner work­ing of law enforce­ment. The youth will be able to par­tic­i­pate in firearms, K‑9, SWAT, Crim­i­nal Inves­ti­ga­tions, Repelling, Acci­dent Inves­ti­ga­tions, Emer­gency Vehi­cle Oper­a­tions and much more. The week is filled with class­room style instruc­tion as well as tak­ing tours of the Jail and Juve­nile Deten­tion Centers.

The Acad­e­my will begin each day at 8am and con­clude at 4pm. Each par­tic­i­pant is required to pro­vide his or her own trans­porta­tion to and from the Police Depart­ment. Lunch­es are pro­vid­ed as well as acad­e­my shirts that must be worn dur­ing the entire acad­e­my. At the con­clu­sion of the course, there will be a grad­u­a­tion cel­e­bra­tion where fam­i­ly and friends can come and see the accom­plish­ments of the youth acad­e­my par­tic­i­pants. There is no cost for this acad­e­my how­ev­er there is an appli­ca­tion process that must be com­plet­ed and approved by the acad­e­my staff. Appli­ca­tions may be picked up at the front desk of the Mar­i­on Police Department.
