Jan 23, 2018  |  Layla Price-Bodkin

A heart-pounding high-speed racing event that sparked mass curiosity in Marion during its first year and set a major world record right here in Marion, Indiana in its second year…is returning to the Marion Airport for year three, full throttle.

This year’s weekend-long event will take place on August 18th & 19th, 2018. Driver registration opens this Wednesday, January 24th, offering a limited-time deal to participate. There will be a Friday night meet & greet where spectators may get a sneak peek of featured cars while meeting drivers and event organizers, then the 3rd annual action-packed event will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

A world record set in Marion in 2017 is setting the tone for this year, as competing drivers hunger to break the standing half-mile record of 257 mph.

The City of Marion is an in-kind sponsor of the Indy Airstrip Attack, an internationally-acclaimed event. Economic impact in Marion/Grant County has increased dramatically since year one. The 2016 inaugural event brought in about 2,500 curious spectators. 2017’s attendance nearly doubled with about 4,000 spectators, and included more drive teams & vendors.
