Horner's Butcher Block Share

Horner’s Butcher Block, located at 825 East 30th Street, has been a staple in south Marion for decades. Current owners, Verlin and Tenley Horner, bought the former Jackson’s Market in 1995 and have operated Horner’s Butcher Block ever since.

In 2015, Horner’s expanded into a brand new 10,000 square-foot building adjacent to their former location. The grocery now has a 44-foot meat counter, hot food counter with café seating, expanded fresh and freezer selection, a soda fountain, and ample parking. The Horners’ belief in the power of the neighborhood market is evident through their commitment and investment over the last 20+ years. Verlin said, Our customers are entrusting us with feeding their families and we take that seriously.”

The Horners have not only been busy expanding in Marion. They opened a second Horner’s Butcher Block in 2009 in the former Driskill’s Market in Fairmount. And, in 2017, they grew into Madison County when they opened their third location at the site of the former Cox Supermarket in downtown Alexandria.
