The public is invited to a free block party downtown to celebrate the City of Marion’s 190th birthday on Saturday, May 21st, 2022, from 12 – 5pm in the 5th Street Commons. There will be live music and entertainment, kid-friendly features, craft vendors, and much more in the 5th Street Commons between Adams and Washington Streets, just south of the Grant County Courthouse Square.
City event team, Discover Marion Downtown, is grateful to offer free features for the community to enjoy through the sponsorship of Psychedelic Cellar, Folkie’s Tavern, the Chronicle Tribune, and downtown’s retiring Country Café which will bake free ‘first come, first serve’ cupcakes for the party.
Marion native and singer-songwriter, Keith Rea, will emcee and kick off the music.

Food & Drink:
There will be several food trucks set up in the Commons. Free cotton candy will be offered next to the cupcake station. Obi’s Barbecue invites patrons to enjoy a newly opened patio which may be used as a beer garden and gathering space directly west of the 5th Street Commons.
Family-friendly:
An inflatable obstacle course will be set up, face painting, MFD’s ‘Touch a Truck,’ and MPD’s mascot, “Johnny Law.” MFD’s retired arson dog, Jersey, as well as MPD’s therapy dog, Zion, will be making appearances at the party.
