Transportation Dept. Honored Nationally for Extended Health Precautions Share

City of Mar­i­on Trans­porta­tion Dept. employ­ees were each pre­sent­ed with a spe­cial award rec­og­niz­ing them as Front­line Heroes” dur­ing a pub­lic meet­ing Mon­day, Aug. 22nd, 2022.

In late 2021, Nation­al RTAP (Rur­al Tran­sit Assis­tance Pro­gram) nom­i­na­tors dis­trib­uted the cer­tifi­cates to all rur­al front­line tran­sit heroes,” whom they explained, unselfish­ly pro­vid­ed and con­tin­ue to pro­vide essen­tial trans­porta­tion ser­vices dur­ing the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Trans­porta­tion Direc­tor, Jeff Edwards, local­ized RTAP’s prais­es. When near­ly every­thing else stopped, the Mar­i­on Tran­sit Sys­tem con­tin­ued to pro­vide ser­vices, and even went above and beyond each day to san­i­tize the bus­es vig­or­ous­ly, and take pas­sen­gers to and from med­ical appoint­ments and ful­fill oth­er essen­tial destinations.

May­or Jess Alum­baugh as well as mem­bers of the Mar­i­on Com­mon Coun­cil were present for the pre­sen­ta­tion. All but two Trans­porta­tion employ­ees were present to receive the awards.
