Road Closures & Traffic Pattern for Eclipse-a-palooza, 4/8/24 Share

The City of Mar­i­on is an in-kind spon­sor of the upcom­ing Eclipse-a-palooza on Mon­day, April 8th, 2024, from 1 – 5pm down­town at Bal­lard Field, host­ed by His­toric Mar­i­on (the new OCRA down­town affiliate).

Please be advised that the fol­low­ing roads near Bal­lard Field (Soc­cer Com­plex) will be closed or manned dur­ing the Eclipse-a-palooza event from 11am until 4pm (Clo­sures may start soon­er depend­ing on traf­fic issues). The event runs from 1 – 5pm.

Unmanned Bar­ri­cades:

  • S. Vine at 3rd
  • S. Lomax at 3rd
  • S. Sweetser at 4th (“Sears Road”) at 4th

Manned Bar­ri­cade:

  • 2nd at McClure
    *This manned clos­ing is to allow trol­ley and emer­gency vehi­cles to enter/​exit the event.

Mar­i­on Parks & Recre­ation will be run­ning the on-site park­ing at Bal­lard Field for a charge of $6 per vehi­cle to raise mon­ey for the city parks. They will also have extra eclipse view­ing glass­es for any­one who needs them.

There are sev­er­al lots down­town offer­ing free over­flow park­ing — the clos­est at 4th and McClure, and at 3rd and McClure St. 

There will be a trol­ley run­ning through the down­town to allow for shut­tling to and from the event, and to oth­er sites down­town the day of the eclipse between 1 – 5pm.
