The City of Marion will be set up at the Chocolate Walk on Friday, February 9th and 10th, 2024, handing out free White Shasta Daisy seeds to promote the city’s new flower. Stop by Ashley’s Ice Cream Café (402 S. Washington St.) anytime from 11am-3pm both days, to pick up the free seeds while supplies last, and get a free scoop of chocolate ice cream ($15 ticket required for all chocolate giveaways along the Chocolate Walk, sold at Ashley’s and other participating businesses).
On January 11th, the City announced the white daisy as its city flower as part of Mayor Morrell’s Clean City 2.0 initiative. The white daisy represents purity, love, and new beginnings. It is rooted in Marion’s history as one of Marie Webster’s main inspirations in designing her innovative quilt patterns sold all over the world.
