The City of Mar­i­on will be set up at the Choco­late Walk on Fri­day, Feb­ru­ary 9^th and 10^th, 2024, hand­ing out free White Shas­ta Daisy seeds to pro­mote the city’s new flower. Stop by Ash­ley’s Ice Cream Café (402 S. Wash­ing­ton St.) any­time from 11am-3pm both days, to pick up the free seeds while sup­plies last, and get a free scoop of choco­late ice cream ($15 tick­et required for all choco­late give­aways along the Choco­late Walk, sold at Ash­ley’s and oth­er par­tic­i­pat­ing businesses).

On Jan­u­ary 11^th, the City announced the white daisy as its city flower as part of May­or Mor­rel­l’s Clean City 2.0 ini­tia­tive. The white daisy rep­re­sents puri­ty, love, and new begin­nings. It is root­ed in Marion’s his­to­ry as one of Marie Webster’s main inspi­ra­tions in design­ing her inno­v­a­tive quilt pat­terns sold all over the world.
