Final Cleanup Date Change, Compiling Info for Total Impact Share

The City has moved its final ​‘24 Cleanup to Sat­ur­day, Oct. 5^th as the sea­son ends, and col­lec­tive impact sta­tis­tics are being compiled.

Mar­i­on res­i­dents exclud­ing land­lords and contractors may drop unwant­ed items off at the Cen­tral Loca­tion any­time from 9am-2pm on Oct. 5^th. *ID is required for proof of res­i­dence. The Cen­tral Loca­tion is City­wide Main­te­nance (Street Dept.) at 520 E. 6^th St. (Turn south on Shunk St. from SR 18 (4^th St.). Dump­sters are pro­vid­ed by the City. Lit­ter grab­bers, trash bags, and gloves are also avail­able at the Cen­tral Loca­tion that day. Piz­za is served at Noon, first come first serve. The final quad­rant for com­pli­men­ta­ry Curb­side Pick­up will be from 9^th St. up to Bond Ave./Chapel Pike includ­ing Shady Hills, and from Wash­ing­ton St./Wabash Ave. to Penn­syl­va­nia St. includ­ing Brinker Heights. Res­i­dents who live with­in these bound­aries will have curb­side pick­up ser­vice that week­end. Res­i­dents must have items at their curb by 9am Sat­ur­day as crews will begin pick­up at that time. (*Pick­up may take up to three days.)

The City has been com­pil­ing total impact infor­ma­tion for all City­wide Cleanups, and will release col­lec­tive results the week fol­low­ing the last Cleanup. In the mean­time, May­or Mor­rell expressed sin­cere appre­ci­a­tion to all who have par­tic­i­pat­ed thus far. ​“See­ing peo­ple com­ing out and being will­ing to help means every­thing to me. It shows that we are real­ly mov­ing in the right direc­tion as a city.”

The City encour­ages more walk­ing vol­un­teers around the city dur­ing the last Cleanup. (Deci­sions regard­ing weath­er or oth­er cir­cum­stances are not orches­trat­ed by the City.)
