Did you know that that Marion has a city flag? You might’ve seen it flying at different locations like Afena Credit Union, Marion Cycle Works, the Fire Stations, Marion Utilities, inside the Marion Public Library, and Box Express to name a few places.
Walmart just picked up their new city flag today to refresh their flagpole at the Marion store for the new year.
If you’re interested in flying a city flag to show your hometown spirit — no matter where you live — they are accessible locally at Collins Flags. They make a great Christmas gift, too, and you don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail.
Just call Collins Flags at 800.950.4061, or stop by at 1301 S. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. They are open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. The city flag comes in a standard 2×3 or one size up at 3×5 feet. If you’re not sure which size to get, Collins will work with you and make the best suggestion for your flagpole or space.
About the city flag:
The Marion flag displays the City of Marion“M” mark, created by students and volunteers of Marion Design Co. in collaborating with citizens.
“The Marion ‘M’ comes from the repeating patterns within our many blocks and streets of businesses, homes, and great organizations. The center of the ‘M’ is proportional to the center square where the Grant County Court House sits.” – Marion Design Co.
The blocks represent the many stories…from painful to triumphant…from all walks of life, coming together. The “M” is tilted on a 45-degree angle from the Marion grid as it sits today, allowing the “M” to move forward into the future.
The colors include a spectrum of soothing and calming blues representing trust and responsibility; teal representing clarity, growth, and spirit; comfortably resting on a white background which symbolizes purity, peace, and refreshing new ideas.
