ADVERTISEMENTS FOR BIDS FOR THE MOWING OF WEED VIOLATION LOTS LOCATED IN THE CITY OF MARION
Sealed bids will be received by the City of Marion Code Enforcement Department, located at 301 S. Branson St. Marion, IN 46952 until 3:00 p.m. (local time) on Friday, April 28, 2023, and then will be publicly opened and read aloud at 10:00 a.m. (local time) on Monday, May 01, 2023, at the regular meeting of the City of Marion’s Board of Public Works and Safety at the above address. Any bids received later than the above time will be returned unopened. Blank bid packets are available in the Code Enforcement office on the 3rd floor at the above address
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Each parcel will be mowed, bushed hogged, or weeded. All grass and weed clippings shall remain on parcels, and no grass or weeds on sidewalks or streets.
Any large items or debris will be reported or noted on the work order.
INSURANCE: Each bidder must show proof of liability insurance of a minimum of $100,000.00 and must be submitted with your bid.
The following is the notice sent out to property owners in violation:
NOTICE TO ABATE ENVIRONMENTAL PUBLIC NUISANCES (WEED & HIGH GRASS; HIGHER THAN 9 INCHES) TO ALL PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE CITY OF MARION
You are hereby notified that if any environmental public nuisance violations as defined in General Ordinance 10 – 2005 are not corrected by June 01, 2023, and the property is maintained free of violations, the violations will be corrected by the City of Marion or it’s agent, and the owner of the property shall be charged with the cost under the provisions general Ordinance 10 – 2005 Section F(3) or any of its amendments, additions and/or policies established by the City of Marion Code Enforcement Department. Environmental public nuisances are defined, but not limited to; any growth of weeds, grass, or other rank vegetation, which is neglected, discarded or not cut or mowed otherwise removed which has attained a height of nine (9) inches or more, or any accumulation of dead weeds, grass, brush or trees. The City of Marion or its agent may correct the environmental public nuisance violations as many times as necessary to comply with this ordinance and charge the actual cost to the property owner. The cost shall not be less than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) in administrative fees and not exceed Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) per hour, per worker, for labor and not exceed Sixty-Five dollars ($65.00) for equipment per hour, plus attorney fees and court cost. If the owner fails to pay the amount owed within ten (10) days of receiving the statement, a lien may be placed upon the benefitted property. This notice is in effect beginning June 1, 2023, and ending December 31, 2023.
