Celebrate ‘Christmas in July’ by Sharing Your Downtown Christmas Photos Share

The Walk­way of Lights com­mit­tee is already get­ting into the hol­i­day spir­it by cel­e­brat­ing Christ­mas…in July! There will be a pic­ture-scan­ning par­ty at a fes­tive booth under the big white tent by the Gar­den House dur­ing the ​“July 3^rd Cel­e­bra­tion in the Gar­dens” from 5 – 9pm. The com­mit­tee is encour­ag­ing you to bring up to five of your favorite pho­tos or slides depict­ing Down­town Mar­i­on at Christ­mas­time. They will then be scanned and returned to you that evening. 

“We have a plan to pro­mote Mar­i­on lat­er this year by shar­ing these won­der­ful mem­o­ries through pho­tographs from the com­mu­ni­ty. Some of us don’t know what it was like Down­town, Mar­i­on decades ago when busi­ness­es were boom­ing and Down­town in gen­er­al was bustling, espe­cial­ly at Christ­mas­time,” explained Walk­way of Lights Com­mit­tee Sec­re­tary, Rose Cadena.

On July 3^rd, 2019, you’ll enjoy free enter­tain­ment, food & drinks, and fam­i­ly activ­i­ties in and around the Gar­dens of Mat­ter Park from 5 – 10pm, fol­lowed by fire­works at dusk, pro­vid­ed by the City of Mar­i­on. (More info is in the News sec­tion of www​.city​of​mar​i​on​.in​.gov).

So remem­ber, when you pack your lawn chairs and pic­nic bas­ket for the ​“July 3^rd Cel­e­bra­tion in the Gar­dens,” don’t for­get to pack your favorite old pho­tos of Christ­mas, Down­town Marion!
