You’re invited to the dedication of the James Dean Birth Site to the City of Marion on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at 1pm at the James Dean Birth Site Memorial at 410 S. McClure Street, Marion, Indiana.
The location is a pocket park between Train Station Pancake House and Best One Tire across from the Marion Municipal Building. On-street parking is available on McClure St., and additional parking is available at City Hall (301 S. Branson St). The ceremony will take place outdoors, but will be brief (about 15 minutes).
Significantly, this February 8th, fans from around the world will celebrate James Dean’s 93rd birthday.
Dean was a Hollywood icon born in Marion and raised in Fairmount (both located in Grant County, Indiana), but his life ended tragically on September 30th, 1955, in a car accident near Cholame, California, when he was 24 years old.
Still renowned as a legend around the world, Dean is known for his three films: East of Eden, Giant, and Rebel without a Cause.
There are many attractions in Grant County in his honor…one of which being the James Dean Birth Site Memorial pocket park in Marion.
