Two big events are hap­pen­ing THIS WEEK­END in Marion!

Fri­day, Oct. 21^st, 2022, is Okto­ber­fest in Down­town, Mar­i­on!

We’ve part­nered with both Obi’s Bar­be­cue (402 S. Wash­ing­ton St.) and Folkie’s Tav­ern (117 S. Bran­son St.) to bring you some fun Ger­man-inspired fes­tiv­i­ties with both loca­tions fea­tur­ing Ger­man food and drink spe­cials and games with Cham­pi­on Prize Bas­kets thanks to con­tri­bu­tions from many busi­ness­es in and around downtown.

Obi’s will fea­ture Jason Wells play­ing live music out­side from 6 – 9pm, an Okto­ber­fest Self­ie Sta­tion, and a Corn­hole Tour­na­ment at 7pm out­side for a Cham­pi­on Prize Bas­ket (please show up at 6:30 to sign up). Their Ger­man food spe­cial will be Smoked Bratwurst with Sauer­kraut and Dus­sel­dorf Mus­tard, fea­tur­ing local Bad Dad Brew­ing Co.​‘s Okto­ber­fest beer. The din­ing and out­door areas are family-friendly.

Folkie’s Tav­ern will fea­ture their tra­di­tion­al ​“Starter Par­ty” from 4 – 6pm with the week­ly draw­ing at 6pm, a Stein-Hold­ing Com­pe­ti­tion from 5:30 – 7 for a Cham­pi­on Prize Bas­ket, and extra ​‘giant’ games. Their Ger­man food spe­cial will be Bratwurst and Sauer­kraut with Fried Pota­toes, fea­tur­ing Okto­ber­fest on tap. This is a 21+ loca­tion inside with a fam­i­ly-friend­ly patio.

Sat­ur­day, Oct. 22^nd, 2022, is the Fall Fest in Mat­ter Park!

From 4 – 7pm, join us at Shel­ter 5 near the band­shell for free car­ni­val games, kids’ inflat­a­bles, s’mores, pump­kins, hayrides, big blue blocks, DJ music, and more! Come hun­gry to this event, too! Lots of food and dessert ven­dors will be there along with craft ven­dors. Come dressed to impress! There will be a Cos­tume Con­test for kids 13 and under, and 14 and over, with 3 win­ners in each cat­e­go­ry. Bring your fur­ry friend and enter them into the Pet Cos­tume Con­test! Judg­ing for all con­tests starts at 5pm.
