Via Credit Union was formed in 1936 by a group of schoolteachers and administrators under the name, Marion, Indiana Public School Employees Federal Credit Union. In 2008, the field of membership was expanded to serve the entire community, and the name changed to Via Credit Union, but the Credit Union’s roots in education have never been forgotten.

That is why ViaCU continues to provide Teacher Grants to educators. Over the years, ViaCU has funded 116 creative projects, totaling over $47,000 to area teachers. During the 2020 – 21 school year, ViaCU recognized the challenges teachers faced, and wanted to reward their ability to develop creative projects for their classrooms during the pandemic. Therefore, ViaCU funded all 23 teacher projects that applied, totaling over $9,000.

ViaCU serves over 34,000 members in 12 counties, has assets over $390 million, operates six branches, and employs over 100 staff members. ViaCU has always emphasized community involvement by supporting community organizations financially and by volunteering. ViaCU is proud of the communities it serves.
