Just outside downtown along the Mississinewa Riverwalk, there will soon be a “splash pad” in Clifford Townsend Park – a water feature to enhance the quality of life for residents in Marion.
The City is beginning the bidding process for construction of the splash pad, with construction expected to begin by the end of May and completed in October, 2025.
Engineering & Planning Director Mike Graft explained, “The splash pad will actually be open by the end of August, with minor touch ups happening into September.”

Mayor Ronald Morrell, Jr. said, “We are excited to enhance our Riverwalk and River District with the addition of the Splash Pad. This new feature will serve as a vibrant destination along the path, inviting families to gather, and encouraging all residents to enjoy the natural beauty and community spirit of our city.”
A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Monday, April 21st, 2025 at Noon in Clifford Townsend Park located on Spencer Avenue at Nebraska Street, next to the Girl Scout Cabin.
