The past few months have been beyond chal­leng­ing for all of us fac­ing down the Coro­n­avirus pan­dem­ic. This month, dur­ing our spe­cial series of Cham­pi­on recog­ni­tion, the City of Mar­i­on thanks all Main­te­nance & House­keep­ing Staff through­out the com­mu­ni­ty for their dili­gent work to keep facil­i­ties and offices clean and operational.

May­or Jess Alum­baugh gives recog­ni­tion to ​“cus­to­di­al work­ers espe­cial­ly inside health­care facil­i­ties who work tire­less­ly to keep every­thing san­i­tary for front­line work­ers and patients.”

The direc­tor of a local health facil­i­ty stat­ed, ​“Safe­ty is our over­rid­ing pri­or­i­ty.” The phrase has been instilled in all work­ers in addi­tion to the ded­i­cat­ed cus­to­di­al staff. ​“We are doing every­thing in our pow­er to keep every­one safe.”

A local senior liv­ing direc­tor stat­ed the facility’s cus­to­di­al crew was already ​‘top notch’ before the pan­dem­ic hit. ​“These work­ers are the unsung heroes. They are the ones keep­ing us COVID-free. We appre­ci­at­ed them before, but with this unprece­dent­ed added pres­sure, their good that they do every day is being lift­ed and high­light­ed as an inte­gral, vital part of our team.”
