Starting Monday, October 15th, the City of Marion will begin picking up bagged leaves under the same schedule as Marion Utility’s trash route for the fall season. 2018 is the third year since an ordinance was implemented requiring leaves to be bagged instead of raked to the curb. As a reminder, leaves must be put in paper yard waste bags (not plastic), and placed by the curb at the same time you would set out your trash. Bagged leaves will be picked up on the same day as trash, but by a different truck and not necessarily the same time of day.
Also for the third year, the City of Marion is offering free leaf bags to citizens in need. This year’s partnership is through Big R of Marion. You may come into City Hall and pick up your leaf bags from the Mayor’s Office on the 2nd Floor, starting today (Oct. 11).
