Youth in Grant and surrounding counties are invited to participate in a Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition hosted in Marion this spring for a chance to advance to a National Finals tournament during the World Series.
MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run in Marion will take place on Saturday, May 20th, at 10am in Matter Park.
It is free and open to youth in Grant and all nine surrounding counties ages 7 – 14. Participants will compete in age divisions 7 – 8, 9 – 10, 11 – 12, and 13 – 14. They will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points. Based on their scores, they will advance from a local event to a Team Championship, and then to the National Finals hosted during Game 2 of the 2023 World Series.
Mayor Jess Alumbaugh is pleased that Major League Baseball selected Marion to host the Pitch, Hit & Run competition this year. “This will give the youth in our area a chance to showcase their baseball skills while enjoying the many amenities our city offers.”
On the day of the competition in Marion, please bring a copy or digital photo of a valid birth document for participant age verification.
