The City of Marion will continue a longstanding tradition of providing a fireworks show for the community. This year, the display is going to take place on Tuesday, July 4th.
Mayor Jess Alumbaugh explained, “We want to bring the celebration to the people directly on the day the whole country is celebrating its independence.”
The event entitled, “Family 4th,” will take place in the common area south of 1st Street and the Mississenewa River, between Adams and Washington Streets. 99.3 WCJC and Star 106.9 FM will join the city from 7 – 9pm by hosting a live remote broadcast, and offering family-friendly games and activities. Food vendors will also be on site. Traditional patriotic music will be played prior to the start of the show at dusk, followed by a ground display across the river at the Grant County Family YMCA, concluding with the traditional aerial display, shot from the East Marion area.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair and join in the celebration and festivities downtown.
