For twenty years, La Charreada has offered authentic Mexican cuisine for the Marion community. Started by Socrates and Alvaro Montaño, La Charreada began with a vision to bring part of their Mexican heritage and culture to Indiana. In addition to the Marion restaurant, Socrates owns restaurants in Bloomington, IN.

Despite the restaurant business being an ever-risky venture, Marion’s La Charreada has remained family owned and operated and located in the same building for the twenty years of its existence. Twelve years ago, Juan Carlos and his brother joined the partnership and helped to generate a new vision for the restaurant — striving to connect more intimately with the Marion community. They didn’t want to just be another Mexican eatery, but a restaurant that proved their commitment to developing relationships with each and every customer, relationships that would extend across generations. Additionally, La Charreada hopes to be involved in contributing to the entire social and economic development of the Marion community.

One of La Charreada’s current owners, Juan Carlos, explains that some of La Charreada’s greatest successes have been serving our community, expanding our business with another location, and remodeling the interior and exterior of our building.”

La Charreada offers more than good Mexican cuisine; the restaurant offers a place for the Marion community to gather and build relationships with one another and the restaurant staff. Marion is proud to be home to La Charreada for twenty years and hopefully many more to come.
