The Marion Fire Department has free smoke detectors to give out to Marion homeowners in need. For nearly a decade, MFD has partnered with Lowe’s and about 100 smoke detectors are donated for fire prevention each year.
Marion Fire Chief Paul David said, “It is great to partner with local businesses to make a difference. It may be that one free smoke detector that saves someone’s life. This is a program that we are fortunate to have, and couldn’t do it without help from places like Lowe’s.”
The smoke detectors are available on a first-come, first-served basis at Fire Headquarters. Fire HQ is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall (301 S. Branson St., Marion, IN), and is open to the public from 8am-4pm (closed 12:30 – 1:30pm). Homeowners who plan to come pick one up may want to call first to make sure the office will be open.
