Common Council Taking Applications for Central Dispatch Board Appointment Share

The Mar­i­on Com­mon Coun­cil is tak­ing appli­ca­tions from cit­i­zens inter­est­ed in being appoint­ed to the Grant Coun­ty Pub­lic Safe­ty Oper­a­tions Cen­ter Pol­i­cy Board (Cen­tral Dis­patch).

Below is infor­ma­tion regard­ing the Civil­ian Tax Pay­er
appoint­ment made by the Mar­i­on Com­mon Council:

  • There is no salary or compensation.
  • The board­’s pur­pose is to admin­is­ter and man­age the cen­tral­ized dis­patch in Grant Coun­ty as a sep­a­rate coun­ty depart­ment known as the Grant Coun­ty Pub­lic Safe­ty Dis­patch Depart­ment and to advise the Grant Coun­ty Com­mis­sion­ers and Grant Coun­ty Coun­cil on issues relat­ed to pub­lic safe­ty dispatch.
  • Board mem­bers are required to attend month­ly board meet­ings which occur on the 2nd Wednes­day of each month. There will also occa­sion­al­ly be Coun­cil meet­ings and exec­u­tive ses­sion meet­ings which require attendance.
  • The Civil­ian Tax Pay­er appoint­ed by the Mar­i­on Com­mon Coun­cil should also report to the Mar­i­on Com­mon Council.

The dead­line for appli­ca­tions to be sub­mit­ted to the City Clerk’s Office will be 4pm on Decem­ber 15th, 2021. Appli­ca­tions may be picked up in the City Clerk’s Office (Mar­i­on Munic­i­pal Build­ing, 2nd floor) Mon­day through Fri­day between 8am and 4pm.
