City Improves Handicap Access for Fishing at Charles Mill Dam Share

Aug 14, 2018  |  Layla Price-Bodkin

This year, during a routine cleanup of debris at the Charles Mill Dam, the City of Marion worked with an excavating company to dredge out a pond within the Mississinewa River creating an inviting area for fish to linger, allowing for easier access for disabled individuals to cast a line. The pond can be accessed using a ramp off the Mississinewa Riverwalk which runs along River Dr.

A group of citizens spoke with City Engineering Director, Mike Graft, and with the blessing of Mayor Jess Alumbaugh, received their request to have the ADA-friendly access. The work was done on August 13th by Dave’s Excavating at no additional cost to the City.
