The City of Marion Transportation Department is spreading kindness through the Marion Transit System through a campaign initiated by a group of Central Indiana students called, “Just Be Kind.” On Tuesday, September 18th, Marion Transit Drivers and staff will be wearing T‑shirts displaying the phrase, “Just Be Kind.” Beginning at 11am, there will be free cake and punch at the Downtown bus terminal, extra T‑shirts will be raffled off, and suckers and more items will be given away throughout the day.
Marion Transportation Director Jeff Edwards was inspired by the campaign and purchased the shirts from the group of Plainfield students who have been selling the shirts since 2015 to raise money for charities and other endeavors. Their intention is to spread a simple positive message to be kind to others, and that there is more goodness in the world than not.
“We are having this event for one day, but everyone should be kind every day,” said Edwards also expressing hope that the campaign will continue in other ways in more places.
