Afena Federal Credit Union has a long-standing history in the City of Marion, beginning with their establishment in 1957 under the name, Marion Independent FCU. Fast-forward to today, Afena touts over $60 million in assets, has 29 employees, 7,000+ members, and two branches in Marion with a new branch in Upland slated to open in the summer of 2020.

As a small local financial institution, Afena has grown tremendously over the years by keeping a focus on their core values which includes staying mission-focused, being committed to member service, staying involved in the communities they serve, maintaining financial stability, staying competitive with their products and service, demonstrating stellar leadership, and being dedicated to their employees.

Like many of our members, Afena was born and raised right here in Marion, and we’ve created a unique way of banking to fit the lifestyles and goals of those living and working in our community. At Afena, we don’t just see an account balance or a credit score, we consider our members’ whole story. Then, we sit down with them and work as a partner to help them reach their financial dreams,” — Shelby Schuh, VP of Marketing

A ribbon-cutting for their new location in Upland is tentatively scheduled for July 31st, 2020.
