Mission
To protect lives and property of the people of Marion from fires, natural disasters, and hazardous materials incidents; to save lives by providing emergency medical services; to prevent fires through prevention and education programs; and to provide a work environment that values cultural diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
Programs & Services
We are a non-transport career fire department providing Basic Life Support services to a 29 square- mile area while providing mutual aid to other cities and counties. The Marion Fire Department is dedicated to maintaining the utmost level of emergency response to the citizens of Marion. MFD’s strong sense of integrity and duty are what drive us to maintain such high levels of service. Through reliable response and public safety awareness, MFD can always be entrusted to reduce loss of life and property in its community.
Fire Investigators
The Marion Fire Department has two Fire Investigators and one Accelerant Detection Canine that work around the clock to help keep our City free of arsonists. Our Investigators are very detail oriented in mapping out fire scenes, determining origin and causes of fires and convicting arsonists.
Hazmat
The Marion Fire Department contains a Hazmat team of 19 members. Being the only Hazmat team in Grant County, we not only assist the City of Marion, but also all surrounding cities. Our team specializes in hazmat clean up of fuel and oil spills and takes pride in making a scene safe again.
Dive Team
The Marion Fire Department has a Dive Team consisted of 11 members. We have two water rescue boats and are continually training to make our team the best it can be.
Honor Guard
The Marion Fire Department has an Honor Guard team to help honor our fallen heroes and show support of current Fire Department members.
Smoke Detector Program
The Marion Fire Department is proud to offer a Smoke Detector Program to its residents. If you are a City of Marion citizen and own your own home, then you qualify for one free smoke detector. If you rent your home or apartment, then your landlord is required to supply smoke detectors for your residence. Please come to Fire Headquarters, 301 S. Branson St. Marion, 3rd floor, to pick up your detector.
Business Inspections
The Marion Fire Department has two inspectors that conduct business inspections. Each business in the City of Marion should be inspected by our department at least once every two years. Call Fire Headquarters to schedule your business inspection today.
Large American Flag
The Marion Fire Department displays this large American flag at community events such as the Walk of Hope.
