The City of Marion has a new web address: cityofmarion.in.gov. The domain (marionindiana.us) is no longer affiliated with the City. We are also working with IWU's Marion Design Co. on a new design for this website which will launch later this year.

Local Officials Promote Small Business Saturday

On the Saturday following Black Friday, November 25th, Grant County will join thousands of other counties, cities, towns, and businesses around the nation to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is a nation-wide event dedicated to supporting local businesses; it was founded seven years ago by American Express in response to a pressing need: local businesses need more customers. November 25th will mark the 8th annual Small Business Saturday.

Marion Design Co., in collaboration with the City, Awarded Grant from the Community Foundation

Marion Design Co., a creative studio and branch of Indiana Wesleyan University’s Division of Art + Design, and in collaboration with the City of Marion, was recently awarded a $6,000.00 grant from the Community Foundation of Grant County, Indiana, Inc., made possible by generous donors since 1984.

Champion of the Month: Dr. Jeanne Argot

Dr. Jeanne Argot, a longtime resident of Marion, was born in eastern Pennsylvania in 1936. She grew up in the countryside near Pocono Lake. Argot developed a passion for nature and biology. Although attending college was far-fetched during those years, she pursued education to the max, first attending college for two-years and becoming licensed to work as a medical laboratory technician at a Pennsylvania hospital. While employed, she pursued and achieved her bachelor’s, master’s, then finally graduated with a doctoral degree in Biology in 1969.

Trailer Manufacturer Plans Second Indiana Facility, 115 Jobs in Marion

MARION, Ind. (Sept. 20, 2017) – Stealth Trailers, a manufacturer of open and enclosed cargo trailers, announced plans today to establish a second location in Indiana, opening a new facility in Marion. As part of its growth, the company plans to create up to 115 new jobs by 2020.

The Bridge Cafe will Bridge the Dining Gap in Downtown Marion

Next spring, the popular farm-to-table Bridge Cafe in Upland will open a second location in Downtown Marion. The setting at 714 South Adams Street will also serve as a community gathering center offering counseling resources and other opportunities for artisans, students, and more.
