Historic Marion Fire Truck Revived for Public Events & Fire Prevention Education

MARION, IN: (July 7th, 2016) – After more than a decade of sitting in a garage, a 1930 Marion Fire Truck in the Marion Fire Department’s possession has been revived, thanks to many hours of volunteer labor. City of Marion Mechanic, Kinnie Sollars, and his 13-year-old son, have been devoting time outside of work and school in order to restore the iconic piece of history.

Unleased Spaces in City-Owned Lots to Become First-Come, First-Served Unrestricted Public Parking

MARION, IN: (July 1st, 2016) – The City administration is offering an array of free downtown parking options to the public, effective immediately. Eight City-owned lots (outlined in the attached map), with the exception of numbered spaces within the lots, are now offered to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis for an unrestricted amount of time. The friendly change is part of a larger effort to make parking more accessible to visitors and residents as well as business owners and downtown employees.

Splash House to Make Repairs to the Bowl Slide while Staying Open

UPDATE: The Bowl Slide is back up and running as of 7/1/16.

MARION, IN: (June 15, 2016) – One of Marion and Grant County’s main attractions, the Splash House, is making some repairs to one of the water park’s featured slides, while staying open this summer.

Last week the Bowl Slide cracked and will be down for an unknown period of time while repairs are being made.

Patrons Pleased with Tennis Court Makeover

MARION, IN: (June 12, 2016) – The City of Marion last week finished a much needed makeover of the tennis courts in Matter Park. The overhaul began last fall and included excavation of the old asphalt, newly laid asphalt, fresh paint (in blue & green representing USTA US Open), new fencing and wall.
