Marion Police Dispatchers are in the Employee Spotlight for all they do for the citizens of Marion.
“These people are the first link,” said MPD Chief Angela Haley. “Dispatchers are an extremely important member of the first responder family. They are the lifeline for citizens and first responders alike. Their ability to stay calm and focused ensures that critical information is passed from our citizen callers to the emergency responders coming to assist in times of crisis. I have been fortunate in my time as a Police Officer to work with some of the best in the business. I am grateful for the service and friendship they have provided over the years.”
Communications Manager / IDACS Coordinator, Phyllis Kauffman, is the lead dispatcher for MPD. “Every day is different because each call is different. They are all doing a great job, and remain flexible to get help out to the people. We are a really good team. We work very hard to best of our ability every day amidst high-stress situations.”
The team is working to consolidate with the county for centralized dispatch planned for June.
