Diego at Charles Mill & Boots Street Park Share

On Wednes­day, Octo­ber 3rd, City of Mar­i­on Mar­ket­ing and Com­mu­ni­ty Rela­tions Direc­tor Lay­la Price-Bod­kin had the com­pa­ny of a nice canine from Mar­i­on Ani­mal Care & Con­trol while walk­ing through Charles Mill Park to doc­u­ment a recent­ly paint­ed bas­ket­ball court. 

Diego, a Fox Ter­ri­er Chi­huahua accom­pa­nied Lay­la on the stroll through the river­side park. She took pic­tures of the resur­faced pub­lic bas­ket­ball court with new­ly paint­ed logos fin­ished by local artist Kate Perez. Perez paint­ed them just a few days ago fol­low­ing the resur­fac­ing which was per­formed by the Indi­ana Wes­leyan Uni­ver­si­ty Men’s Bas­ket­ball Team a cou­ple months ear­li­er. Upon com­plet­ing an over­all improve­ment project for the park, the team in con­junc­tion with the orga­niz­ers, Unit­ed Way of Grant Coun­ty and the City of Mar­i­on, all decid­ed to give the court a unique iden­ti­ty dis­play­ing pride for the City of Mar­i­on, IWU, and Mar­i­on Com­mu­ni­ty Schools. They also gave the court with­in the park the name, Back to Back Cham­pi­ons Court,” com­mem­o­rat­ing the recent vic­to­ries of both schools.

While Lay­la took pic­tures of the court, Diego mar­veled around at the sights. Then, they walked up and down Charles Mill Park which con­nects to Boots Street Park along the Mis­sis­se­newa Riv­er, pick­ing up lit­ter in both parks. Diego, a spry and well-man­nered 2 – 3 year old, enjoyed dis­cov­er­ing new ter­ri­to­ry, and had very good tem­pera­ment around the peo­ple they passed.
