Diego at Charles Mill & Boots Street Park Share

Oct 4, 2018  |  Layla Price-Bodkin

On Wednesday, October 3rd, City of Marion Marketing and Community Relations Director Layla Price-Bodkin had the company of a nice canine from Marion Animal Care & Control while walking through Charles Mill Park to document a recently painted basketball court.

Diego, a Fox Terrier Chihuahua accompanied Layla on the stroll through the riverside park. She took pictures of the resurfaced public basketball court with newly painted logos finished by local artist Kate Perez. Perez painted them just a few days ago following the resurfacing which was performed by the Indiana Wesleyan University Men’s Basketball Team a couple months earlier. Upon completing an overall improvement project for the park, the team in conjunction with the organizers, United Way of Grant County and the City of Marion, all decided to give the court a unique identity displaying pride for the City of Marion, IWU, and Marion Community Schools. They also gave the court within the park the name, Back to Back Champions Court,” commemorating the recent victories of both schools.

While Layla took pictures of the court, Diego marveled around at the sights. Then, they walked up and down Charles Mill Park which connects to Boots Street Park along the Mississenewa River, picking up litter in both parks. Diego, a spry and well-mannered 2 – 3 year old, enjoyed discovering new territory, and had very good temperament around the people they passed.

Diego is adoptable through ACC. Diego is also very well-behaved around other dogs, perfect around kids, and likes to cuddle. He is already neutered. To learn about adopting Diego or other pets at Marion ACC, call 765.668.4491.
