Parade Postponed to Sunday

The Walkway of Lights Parade has officially been postponed to Sunday, in response to the rainy and windy forecast for this (Saturday) evening.

The parade will now take place on Sunday, November 19th, 2017 at 7:00 PM. The procession runs northbound on Washington Street from the Grant County YMCA to Highland Avenue.

Tomorrow will also begin the annual Walkway of Lights display. The Walkway of Lights will start at approximately 7:30pm after the lights are turned on during the parade. It's $5 once again for a season pass per vehicle.

Rain Might Postpone Walkway of Lights Parade by One Day

Due to the eminent threat of rain according to the latest weather forecast, a decision will be made at noon on Saturday, 11/18, if the parade will be held that day. If it is cancelled, everything will shift to Sunday...same time, same place, including the start-up of the light displays. This announcement is based on the forecast of 100% rain for tomorrow.

Please stay tuned. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thank you,

City Thanks Garfield Neighborhood and Partners for Initiating Revitalization of Barnes Park; Ribbon Cutting this Sunday

A public park in Marion is receiving a big makeover thanks to the initiative of the Garfield Neighborhood Association and Hands of Hope, a division of Family Service Society, Inc. Garfield Association member and Hands of Hope Director Linda Wilk says the park in their neighborhood, Barnes Park, is undergoing transformation in efforts to ensure a more safe, nurturing environment to foster a good quality of life. Wilk said Barnes Park for years has served little purpose aside from being a spot for criminal-related activity.
