New Building & Grounds Manager Hired

New leadership is taking shape in the City of Marion’s Building & Grounds Department this week. Robby Cassidy filled the maintenance position on Monday, June 19th, shortly after longtime manager Terry Kratzer retired after serving nearly 29 years. Cassidy was previously handling maintenance and landscaping duties for the City through the Parks Department.

Longtime Building & Grounds Manager Announces Retirement

The City of Marion’s Building and Grounds Manager is retiring after 28 ½ years of service. Terry Kratzer began his long tenure with the City when he accepted the maintenance management role in December of 1988, after working eight years doing the same scope for the YMCA.

As a child and teenager, Kratzer worked on the family farm just outside Marion where he said he adopted a strong work ethic. He then worked for RCA for five years where he learned many different aspects of maintenance and operations.

Open Position: Building & Grounds Manager

The City of Marion will be accepting applications through Friday, May 5th, 2017 for the following position:

The City of Marion is seeking an energetic, self-starting individual for a full-time Building and Grounds Manager.

Job Responsibilities: Oversees all maintenance and housekeeping functions for the City building and grounds; maintains inventory of supplies; prepares annual departmental budget; assigns and coordinates work duties for community corrections and summer youth employees.

The City Hall Building & Grounds office is located at City Hall, 301 S. Branson Street, Marion, Indiana. The Building & Grounds Department keeps the City of Marion facilities and grounds in excellent condition. Due to the diligence of the staff, Marion has a municipal building and grounds of which they can be proud.
