Mis­sion

We, the mem­bers of the Mar­i­on Police Depart­ment, com­mit to pro­vid­ing the safest pos­si­ble envi­ron­ment for our com­mu­ni­ty and to exhib­it pro­fes­sion­al­ism and com­mu­ni­ty-mind­ed­ness. We pledge to reduce crime and increase all cit­i­zens’ sense of safe­ty when­ev­er pos­si­ble. We will also pro­vide qual­i­ty ser­vices to the pub­lic, even in areas not direct­ly relat­ed to law enforce­ment. We pledge to eval­u­ate and edu­cate our­selves con­stant­ly in order to improve and grow as indi­vid­u­als and as a team. We will strive to treat oth­ers as we would expect to be treated.

Pro­grams & Services

Youth Acad­e­my

The Youth Acad­e­my pro­gram (kids age 12 – 15) pro­vides kids first­hand knowl­edge of police poli­cies and pro­ce­dures. Kids par­tic­i­pate in var­i­ous team build­ing and police activ­i­ties through­out the week. It allows offi­cers the oppor­tu­ni­ty to build pos­i­tive rela­tion­ships with kids in our community. 

John­ny Law

Offi­cer John­ny Jus­tice Law, a 10-foot-tall inflat­able mas­cot, is one of the most cel­e­brat­ed addi­tions to the Mar­i­on Police Depart­ment in recent his­to­ry. Offi­cer Law arrived to great fan­fare, and his life­time achieve­ments are epic in nature. He appears at var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ty events such as the Walk­way of Lights Parade and Nation­al Night Out, pass­ing out can­dy and pos­ing for pictures.
