Job Opening: Full-time Laborer, Parks Department

Citywide Maintenance is seeking applicants for a full-time laborer position in the Parks Department.

Job responsibilities: Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of skilled and unskilled building, mechanical and grounds tasks to assist in the maintenance of city park properties and facilities; operates trucks and light equipment for construction, maintenance and repair of roads and city property.

Employee Spotlight: Rose Cadena

Rose Cadena is the Administrative Assistant for the City of Marion Parks & Recreation Department. She has been in her position for 10 years. In addition to undertaking multiple tasks in her job, she puts the "FUN" in all events at City Hall. Rose spearheads and organizes many parties and events for the City team. Her competitive nature is the drive behind Corporate Challenge and all activities connected with this event.

First Year of Champions to be Honored at An Evening in the Gardens

On Friday, July 21st, during An Evening in the Gardens, Mayor Jess Alumbaugh will present Certificates of Appreciation to the Champions he has recognized throughout one full year. The City of Marion began naming “Champions”…individuals who have displayed outstanding servant leadership or extraordinary achievement…beginning in July of 2016 shortly after the City adopted the new slogan, “City of Champions.”

Golf Scramble to Raise Funds to Rebuild Downtown Fire Station

Road Closure: Butler Ave on Saturday, July 1st

N. Butler Avenue from W. Braewick Drive to W. Winona Avenue will be closed Saturday July 1, 2017 from 9:00 am to 12:00 am (midnight) for a charity event for the Black History Club of Marion High School, sponsored by the Black Dragon Motorcycle Club. New Building & Grounds Manager Hired

New leadership is taking shape in the City of Marion’s Building & Grounds Department this week. Robby Cassidy filled the maintenance position on Monday, June 19th, shortly after longtime manager Terry Kratzer retired after serving nearly 29 years. Cassidy was previously handling maintenance and landscaping duties for the City through the Parks Department.
