Marion Firefighter Jeffrey Cook to Retire after 25 Years

This Thursday is the last day of duty for Firefighter Jeffrey Cook who will retire from the Marion Fire Department after serving 25 years.

Cook was born and raised in Marion and graduated from Marion High School. After 6 years working for Seyfert Potato Chips in Marion, he was hired as a Firefighter for the Marion Fire Department in 1992. Cook said being a firefighter was a longtime dream. He explained took him 10 years before he achieved a firefighter position.

Marion Police Officer Charles O'Haver Retires After 20 Years

Police Officer Charles O’Haver has retired from the Marion Police Department after fulfilling 20 years of service.

Charles O’Haver grew up in Sweetser, IN, and graduated from Oak Hill High School. After attending Vincennes University, then Ball State University, O’Haver worked in the landscaping business. He later applied for and was offered a job as a police officer with the Marion Police Department in 1997.

Road Closure: East 14th Street Closed on Saturday

Road Closure: West 32nd Street to Close on Saturday for Concert

The Bridge Cafe will Bridge the Dining Gap in Downtown Marion

Next spring, the popular farm-to-table Bridge Cafe in Upland will open a second location in Downtown Marion. The setting at 714 South Adams Street will also serve as a community gathering center offering counseling resources and other opportunities for artisans, students, and more.
