City of Marion to Improve Parking Standards

MARION, IN: (May 2nd, 2016) – The City of Marion is taking action to improve parking standards in Marion by increasing violation fines and adding manpower to ensure enforcement, and encouraging good parking practices.

Multiple City departments have been receiving numerous complaints about inaccessible parking and lack of enforcement in time-limit parking spots, no parking zones, handicap-accessible spaces and more, for several years to present-day.

Splash House Announces Changes in 2016 Season

MARION, IN: (April 11th, 2016) – The City-owned Splash House is announcing some changes in rules and pricing going into the 2016 season.

The cost for general admission will differ for residents and non-residents of Marion. Starting this season, residents will pay $8 per adult and $6 per child or senior for a day-long pass. Non-residents will pay $10 per adult and $8 per child or senior. Children 2 years of age or younger get in free in both cases. The Splash House staff will be checking IDs at the door to confirm residency.

Marion Firefighter Dale Owen to Retire after 29 Years

MARION, IN: (April 7th, 2016) – Firefighter Dale Owen will retire after 29 years of serving the Marion Fire Department. Private Owen joined the Department in 1987, and during his tenure, served as the Maintenance Officer and on the Hazmat Tech team.

Marion Fire Prevention Officer, & Former Chief, Retires After 36 Years

MARION, IN: (March 24th, 2016) – Marion Fire Prevention Officer & Former Fire Chief, Robert “Bobby” Johnson has retired after 36 years of service with the City of Marion Fire Department. Johnson began as a Private Firefighter for the department in 1979, and since has served as a dispatcher, fire investigator, prevention officer, and even Fire Chief during the Ron Mowery administration (1993-1999).
