Registration Open for Walkway of Lights Christmas Parade

It’s that time of year!!

Please find attached the entry form for the 2017 Walkway of Lights Christmas Parade. This event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 7:00PM. The staging area will again be at the Grant County Family YMCA, and North Washington Street Bridge. Deadline for entry forms is November 3, 2017. We will be sending more information concerning the staging area at a later date.

Road Closure: Whites Ave. at 7th St. Closed Today through Monday

Summers Plumbing Heating & Cooling will be blocking traffic at Whites Ave. & 7th St. today through Monday at 5pm to allow their crew to conduct dig work at a residence at that intersection. Contact Andrea at Summers, 765-664-4328, with questions. Thank you.

Champion of the Month: Dr. Jeanne Argot

Dr. Jeanne Argot, a longtime resident of Marion, was born in eastern Pennsylvania in 1936. She grew up in the countryside near Pocono Lake. Argot developed a passion for nature and biology. Although attending college was far-fetched during those years, she pursued education to the max, first attending college for two-years and becoming licensed to work as a medical laboratory technician at a Pennsylvania hospital. While employed, she pursued and achieved her bachelor’s, master’s, then finally graduated with a doctoral degree in Biology in 1969.

Open Position: Part-Time Bus Driver

The City of Marion will be accepting applications through Friday, October 20th for the following position:

Transportation is seeking applicants for a part-time bus driver position.

Job responsibilities: Operates a bus along a predetermined route in a safe, timely, and courteous manner for the conveyance of passengers.

The City of Marion's Employee Spotlight for October is a team of Marion Fire Fighters: Captain Jordan Lamb, Fire Prevention Officer Chad Jenkins, Engineer Stephen Johnson II, and Firefighter Tharis Jones.

On 9/17/17, Capt. Lamb, Eng. Jenkins, Eng. Johnson, and Pvt. Jones of Engine 6 arrived on the scene of a shooting at W. Colonial Dr. and S. Home Ave.
